It is very small (perfect for the typical nano shrimp tank. Mine happens to be the fluval 5.5 spec) and does provide the large number of shrimp associated with small shrimp tanks a nice food variety among their shrimp pellets and frozen varieties of food.
I will throw in a block as often as once a week, or every other week (dependent on my weekly to bi-weekly water changes). It is important to only feed these blocks right before a water change is due or right after a water change is completed only because once again, with any plaster fed food, when left in the water column, it can get messy and dirty the tank in a relatively short amount of time. My cherry shrimp, orange bee shrimp, and red fire shrimp do enjoy it however and I will continue to offer it to them as a food variety once in a while.
