I am making homemade chicken + cottage cheese + potato + carrots + pea meal for my cat since she developed diarrhea on almost any brand of commercial food. She hated the meal at the first, but after putting in some PetGuard Anita's Vita-Mineral Mix, she started to eat the meal. Now she won't eat her meal unless I mix some of the PetGuard Mix with it. So it's a good taste for my cat.
However, I don't like the fact that it has no Vitamin A. My guess is that the company concerns about overdose of vitamin A or they cannot include vitamin A in a non-oil mix. But I am gonna keep looking.
Also what's missed from Amazon listing is the nutrition label:
Ingredients: Wheat Bran, Primary Dried Yeast, Calcium Lactate, Lecithin, Montmorillonite Clay, Whey
Guaranteed Analysis:
Crude Protein ... 15% min
Crude Fat ... 12% min
Crude Fiber ... 9% max
Moisture ... 9% max
Each ounce of Anita's Vita-Mineral Mix contains a minimum of:
Calcium .................... 2.5 to 3.5%
Phosphorus ................. 1.3%
Magnesium .................. 0.25%
Iron ....................... 0.01%
Manganese .................. 0.002%
Methionine ................. 0.008%
Taurine .................... 0.008%
Vitamin B1 (Thiamine) ........... 122 mg
Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin) ......... 0.076 mg
Vitamin B3 (Niacin) ............. 0.88 mg
Vitamin B5 (Pantothenic Acid) ... 0.038 mg
Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine) ......... 0.044 mg
Vitamin B12 (Cobalamin) ......... 50 mcg
Selenium ......... 50 mcg
Zinc ............. 5 mg
The part that confuses me in this guaranteeing analysis is why from the calcium to Taurine, they use percentage while the rest of them are actual weight?
Conclusion: before finding a better vitamin mix, I will probably continue buy this one.
