Our favorite local pet store stopped carrying these, so I had to order a new one.
Georgie is a huge fan of this toy. He runs, leaps, lollops, pounces, and flings himself around both on the floor and in the air. He likes the chase even more than catching it. I give him a break when he's breathing hard -otherwise he'll still want to play even as he's wheezing!
Fred will chase it far more demurely, but that's the kind of cat that he is. He's attracted to the feathers on the end, and likes to lay on top of it once it's caught. "Haha, I got you, you can't get away!!"
The furry critter eventually comes loose from the spring, but only happens for us when Fred chews on the black cap that covers where the spring is glued to the critter. (It's glued in there pretty darned firmly.) It's not a loss, though, because Georgie will carry it around in his mouth, bat it around, pounce on it, and hide it in my shoes for me to find. :)
As long as you put it away after use (and don't let your cat try to decapitate it like my Fred does), it should last for months. A good way to keep the spring from getting tangled during storage is to twirl the stick so the spring coils itself with the stick straight down the middle.
