Switching your cat to a renal diet can be very difficult. The renal foods have low salt and low phosphorous to help control the electrolyte imbalances that are common with chronic renal failure/insufficiency. This makes the food a lot less palatable than your standard cat food. Some cats will eat any type of renal food and others won't take to it at all, regardless of the brand.
The prices of renal foods are much more expensive than your standard food too. I like that I can get Royal Canin Renal here on Amazon without having to go to vet to pick up each bag.
I highly recommend trying this brand first but if your cat doesn't take to it, here are others you can consider:
