I found this at a remainders store for $16 and that it lists for $50 seems excessive but not outrageous. The designer of this container, Stefano Giovannini, designed some of the cutest stuff for Alessi so when I saw these containers I had to have them. It's more of a "want" than a "need" though since it only holds 5lbs of dry food at a time and a lot of people I know buy in bulk. It seems fairly well made and it's a clever design. The handle is on the bucket securely and the back of the head is open so that's what you use as the handle to open it. the tail scoop holds 1 cup of food and there is a little hook on the back of the bucket for it. Overall, delightful to look at and comes in a variety of colours.
I would give this more like a 4.5 stars for me but I might not be using it the way they want. I leave this on the floor and it might be made for more of a counter top. On the floor it's easy to not put the lid on correctly where it dips into the container (it will never fully fall in though). Also, with the spoon in the back I sometimes don't get it on the hook and finally it's low so you're really squatting to do all that.
