There's really no accounting for why cats, especially cats with kidney failure, will eat one food and not another, or will tolerate one food but not another. That said, this food seems to be my kitty's favorite out of the prescription renal diets, maybe because the first ingredient is pork instead of some kind of grain.
She keeps it down pretty well, too. I also got her some of the chicken flavor, which has even lower protein and uses rice as its first ingredient. She'll eat it, but she doesn't seem to like it as much as this one.
She ate the Purina NF for about two weeks, then decided it was no good. And I never could get her to eat the Hill's KD. But this stuff she likes.
