Royal Canin Canine Veterinary Diet Hypoallergenic HP (7.7 lbs)
I have 3 papillons, and two have had horrible allergies. They are mom & pup, so it would seem to be genetic. I had the on expensive grain free diets, changing from grain free natural balance,to Acana grain free, and Fromm organic grain free....The allergies continued. I washed their bed linens in hypoallrgenic soap, I vacuumed and then shampooed the carpet with anti-allergen shampoo. I bathed them in several different shampoos. I only gave them bottled water to drink. They weren't allowed outside with the pollen and the fleas, using just the potty pads. Finally, the vet put them on the Royal Canine Hypoallergenic diet. Within 8 hours after taking away their old food and starting the new, they stopped scratching. All 3 love the food. It seems as though they had been allergic to the protein in the other foods. I had even tried feeding them a raw diet, but that too, was chicken or beef. The Royal uses venison for the protein. They do seem to eat much more of the Royal. I don't know if it's because they love it, or if it's because their body requires much more to meet their nutritional needs. Either way, they are much happier, since they're not scratching their skin raw, and their coat is no longer falling out. Yes, it's expensive, but not as much as allergy testing and allergy shots!
