My two little monsters are big shedders. Coupled with an unusually dry winter, the shedding was not only exacerbated, but my cats had also developed dry skin and dandruff. One of them, who liked to sit butt-first in front of the fireplace, ended up losing a few patches of fur on her back legs. I purchased a Vornado warm-air humidifier to combat the dry air (especially by the fireplace), which did seem to help somewhat, but as my little ones are both free to go outside during the daylight hours and I have no control over outside humidity, they were still being exposed to very dry air.
I had previously tried using another skin and coat product for my cats (Tomlyn's Omega Power), but they had absolutely hated it, and refused to eat the food I mixed it with. Naturally, it was a huge surprise when I mixed the Shed-X into their wet food and they didn't seem to mind at all! It has the consistency of cooking oil (as opposed to Tomlyn's thick jelly) so evenly mixing it in with their food is very easy.
It's now been three weeks since I first began using the product and the difference is amazing! I brushed them both and neither of them had much loose fur to lose definitely not a typical occurrence for them! When they sit on our laps (or sleep in our clean laundry!) almost no fur is left behind on our clothes. The dandruff is gone, and their coats are so thick and soft it literally feels like we just gave them a bath! My little girl still sports those patches on her legs, but her skin no longer feels papery and dry and she no longer over-bathes herself!
I would recommend this product to anyone who owns a cat!
