I got this automatic feeder for 2 cats one of which overeats given the opportunity. Until getting this feeder we were hand feeding them portioned meals throughout the day. The feeder was easy to set up, extremely simple to use, and saves us a lot of time. The clear bowl holds weeks worth of food for us and the many portion size selections makes getting just the right amount easy.
I do wish there was a wider selection of feeding times. This only lets you select up to 3 feeding times within a preset window (breakfast lunch and dinner). The clear bowl is great because you can see just how much food is still in the container, but so can the cats and they sit around it and stare at it waiting for it to dispense food. This has also led to a new problem. In the past we used to get harassed by the cats as much as an hour before their feeding time. Now they dont bug us at all, but the second that timer goes off they tear a$$ to the kitchen. It can be quite interesting if they're laying on your when that happens. The upside is, despite their many attempts at digging their paws up into the hopper to steal some food, they have been met with quite a bit of frustration as 10mins of effort usually nets a max 3 or 4 pellets. It definitely does its job. I just wish you could teach a cat to not be such a tard.
