My kitties say this is the best thing for breakfast, lunch, supper, or a snack of any of the canned foods they have ever been offerred. Tiki Cat, the manufacturer, states that these are merely Sardine Cutlets in Sardine Juice. I have four cats and I do believe that the dream of at least two of them is to live on an island where the fishermen catch sardines early in the morning and then take the Sardines out to be bait for larger fish. My two goofy children (the little black one, and the large grey one) dream along of the early morning catch and then dream on as the kindly and generous fishermen dole out left over Sardines to cute kitties who have been waiting all day for the fishermen to appear.
Now, you will note that the price of Tiki Cat Sardine Cutlets is quite reasonable, but currently (March 2012) there is a shipping charge on the canned food which raises the price to more than a $1 a can. But the Black (Wisdom) and the grey (Trinity) had been sharing their dreams for months, so what can a dear, gullible mommie do but provide Sardine Cutlets to her dreamy eyed children. Gabriella likes Turkey and Chicken better and Mercy is partial to beef.
Nonetheless, all kitties got a half sized, try out serving of Sardine Cutlets the first time we tried them out.
Gobbledygoo...not a Sardine left in sight. Trinity and Wisdom were still begging, but the other two were moseying off the the kitchen feeding station. Trin and Wisdom shared another can and each one pigged that down and looked like I was horrid because I took off toward the kitchen to take care of feeding business there.
Feral Kitty who lives in the back yard was especially spoiled that night. In addition to left overs and his own
Friskies, two, 5 oz cans, he was also given a can of Sardine Cutlets. Sometimes about 1/4 of Feral Kittie's dinner is dry food, this night he was fed the best and more than he usually gets! (What he does not eat, the birds down for breakfast the next AM.) Soon I heard Gabby banging on the back door. That means Feral Kitty has arrived. I carefully peaked outside (he runs at the sight of me even though I have dutifully fed him for about 8 years) and sure enough, he was enjoying his sardines before he touched anything else!
Gabby and Mercy have smartened up and when they smell Sardines being opened, they come front and center for their share. They are not such pigs as my two dreamers, but they have definitely developed a taste for real Sardines. I believe Trin would eventually eat his fill, but my smallest, Wisdom eats Sardines until they are gone and begs for more.
Hands down, the Sardines are the Kitty favorite. If it has been a bad kitty day...it rained and the birds did not come to play; no neighbor had his yard cleaned; or just if someones feathers got ruffled...well...that makes it a Sardine Day. Amazing how tempers even out and all becomes well. Of course, Feral kitty will get his own personal can on such a day; in fact, if sardines are at the head of the menu, Feral Kitty gets a can also. I have a marshmallow heart!!
But the long and short of it is that if nothing else will do, Sardines will. My kitties have voted it their favorite above all the other Fancy Feast things and ProPlan that they generally prefer. We all recommend the Sardines and hope your kitties will enjoy them as much as mine do. (The only negative in the whole thing is the cost, but for a now and again treat, it is not too bad. Just hope Amazon will make it a Prime item soon!
The best to all you kitties and kitty feeders who kindly take the time to real our opinions! Thank you.
