My cat is OBSESSED with her raccoon kickaroo. She carries it around in her mouth all day and loves to play fetch with it. I frequently wake up with it on top of me in bed from her wanting to play fetch in the middle of the night.. She also rolls around with it and licks it a lot. She has not taken to any other toy to the extent that she loves this one. Just picking it up and crinkling it at her, she goes nuts. My other cat also likes the raccoon and likes to kick it, but she likes to kick other toys too. And she's not wildly obsessed like the first cat is..
The toy is very lightweight even though it is large. The sound is a little irritating when you are trying to sleep, but there are much more irritating toys out there.
I've had the toy for nearly 2 months now, and considering my cat plays with it ALL DAY LONG, it is holding up very well. The felt on the face is getting a little fluffy, but none of the seams have split, the ears are still attached, and it has no holes. The fur (especially on the tail) is the kind of synthetic fur that is sort of curly and slippery and greasy-feeling (it's just the nature of the material). Considering how spitty the toy ends up in my house, it's probably a good thing because the fibers don't hold the spit.
I would recommend this toy as long as you can stand the prospect of listening to crinkling all day.
[Update March 4, 2012]
Ok, so I've had the raccoon for 5 months now. The ears are now gone and the face is totally unrecognizable, but my cat still carries it around, and I still wake up with it in my bed. There are still no split seams (even where the ears were -they are chewed-off black felt nubs now, but the seam didn't actually rip). There ARE some threads coming off it, but the whole thing is still structurally sound and there are no holes. I have not had to repair it in any way. It's still going strong.
My cat does have a new toy that she likes just as much, but the raccoon still hasn't been deposed. Basically I just took a small stuffed walrus around the same size as the raccoon and stuffed it full of high-potency organic catnip. (Yeowww! 100% Organic Loose Catnip, Leaf and Bud Blend, 1 Ounce Pouch) She carries it around just like she does with the raccoon. I think if I sewed a crinkly candy wrapper into it she would be even happier. Something about the combination of large fuzzy toy, crinkle, and catnip just does it for her.
