I highly reccomend this system with conditions. The chargers act differently with each collar red can mean charged or charging with green the opposite you just have to play with them. The collars have battery issues (many are DOA or quit within a few days) and water damage issues with my LARGER dogs who play and chew at each other causing the thin plastic seal on the collars to fail and then the dogs run in damp weeds or roll in water and the collars just die. The Mfg is good at replacing them but count on one replaced in warranty maybe two or even three during the first year and buying a new one each yearkeep your receipt and make copies to send with the bad collar you will need a spare. I have fourty acres enclosed and the system works wonderfully well with tiny to very large dogs with a bit of early training (5 10 or 20 min) even larger dogs will almost never pass the fence. On a dead run they may then they can't get back over to get home I live in a very rural area so a lost dog is a big deal my dogs USED to show up more than 30 miles away before the fence. Now they do not leave as long as I test to collars and they are charged. One on my dogs tests the fence all day and runs the collar charge down in about 3 weeks others stay charged for a couple of months or longer. The tester dog gets out now and then and waits so I know it's time to charge the collar. (or it's gone bad) The collars do go bad a LOT but it REALLY WORKS so I contend with the nuisance. I carry two spares for charging and back up to send for new ones but, I have 3 BIG hunting dogs and two smaller high engery dogs so need the spares. I chose the system over "better" ones due to the size of my lot and the cost most do not cover 40 acres and the others that are more durable are 4 times the money and triple the collar costs. $600 was better than $4,000 at the start for me. It works better with some dogs than others but VERY VERY good in general... I have never found the need to spend the amount of time the system reccomends for training but my dogs seem to naturally turn a 180 when they get bothered. My kids bring their many dogs when visiting from out of town and none have required training they just don't cross the line naturally. Maybe it's cause they follow my dogs???? DO NOT waiste your money on the replaceable battery collars unless you have tiny dogs... the batteries do not last long with the dogs who run along the fence. Smaller dogs seem to keep their distance better. Use locktite on the electrode tips or they may come loose. (super glue will work also but not as good)
