In July 2013 Merrick rolled out the new formula of this called Merrick Purrfect Bistro Cowboy Cookout. While they pretended to simply replace the packaging, they actually created an entirely new formula in order to save themselves money.
Merrick reduced the amount of beef by 8% and added more water. Next, they reduced the quality of beef from a 77% lean beef to 75% lean beef.
The new formula:
* Has more water (5% more)
* Has less beef (8% less beef)
* Contains fattier beef (3% more fat, 10% less protein)
* Has 10% less calories (indicative of more water in the product)
-> Worst of all, none of my three cats will eat it.
