My cat is diabetic but is off insulin but must be fed Low Carb wet food every 4-6 hours. This wasn't a problem until I went back to work recently. I bought this to fix my problem because I really didn't want to screw up his diet and have him end up back on insulin.
It is NOT that hard to program, just READ the directions. I pop his food out of the cans and put it onto a styrofoam plate and freeze it. I fill up half enough of the dishes to feed him 3 meals, in case I run late getting home. Then once I'm home I fill up the other dishes for the rest of the night and his morning feeding. Then I do it all again.
I was worried in the beginning that he wouldn't understand it and my other cat or my dog would get to it but after the first day, he knows about when it's going to go off and as soon as he hears the motor (even before my recorded voice calls him) he is there waiting for the tray to spin around. It's pretty funny. You do have to reset it after each full cycle though but really isn't a problem.
I also recently went on vacation and I pre-froze each days food in ziplocs and had a friend stop by after dinner every night and fill it for me and they had no problem with it either.
This thing really was a lifesaver for me-and my cat.
