If you read the ingredients there is nothing to complain about, or would be harmful to your cats. The ingredients are healthy and well balanced. However, my cats have tried many varieties of good cat food, and this is one they would rather go without eating and be hungry rather than eat it. I bought a large bag for 4 cats and they were starting to get too skinny looking, so I went to the grocery store and bought them their favorite "junk food" kind of cat food Purina One for Sensitive Cats" or something like that, and mixed it well with the remainder of what I had left from this cat food. Voila! All of a sudden they are eating ALL of the cat food. They aren't being picky and leaving the Earthborn behind. I therefore don't think it is anything about the cats knowing innately that this cat food is harmful to them, rather, it just doesn't taste that good.
