If you are trying to find a good quality pet food and have been scared away from premium brands due to cost like most pet owners seem to be; I'd urge you to do the math on price per ounce before making that decision to feed Fluffy Meow Mix. I have two cats, a 15 year old and a 6 year old. They've typically been fed the mid-higher quality diets and are wonderfully, healthy indoor cats luckily. After I lost my job though, I was scrambling trying to find a cheaper alternative. While at first, it may seem like the 24 pack of Meow Mix at 16 dollars is a better deal than a 24 pack of Merricks for 35-40 dollars you have to see what you are paying per ounce. The Meow Mix was 2.75 ounce each, or 66 ounces total. The same case of Merricks is 132 ounces. Ah ha! Now, which is the better deal? Not only is this people quality food with less filler, none of the nasty meat-by-products and preservatives like you find in lower priced pet food; it is the better bargain.

My cats eat less of this food than they do the lower priced brands (ie, Fancy Feast, Meow Mix, etc) They tend to eat the entire portion of Merrick's and would sometimes leave part of the other food in their dish, so you waste less in that manner as well. The food seems very digestible to both my furry critters. One would occasionally yark if he ate too fast or something and that has really cut down after getting them on the Merrick diet. Their coats are healthier, the litter box even stinks less, so that tells me that the so-called bargain brands are not a deal at all. If you are thinking of maybe switching your pet to a better quality food please do! It will keep your pet healthier in the long run and avoid vet visits so that is a huge savings also. Plus your animal will thank you for the better diet. I have also tried the Before Grain which is also made my Merrick's and both my cats loved the dry and wet versions. Yes, they are do seem to be more expensive at first, but I encourage you to do your own tests to find what works best for you, your pet and your budget.

My felines seem to love this flavor the best of all the Merrick's offerings. New England boil not so much though. Merrick's also offers a variety pack so you can let your felines taste sample and find what ones they like best. One other note to pass on, is the expiration date is printed on the bottom of each can. I've not had any issues with expired cans ordered from Amazon, but if you should choose to find this food at your local pet store, you may want to check those dates. I had one unfortunate encounter with an expired, rotten can which is not the fault of the pet food, merely a stocking issue that has since been corrected. I imagine it was due to the fact of it being a higher priced food, the stock just wasn't being used up enough so I got an old one. I never even knew there was an expiration date until then. Hope this information helps you in your purchases and you and your cat enjoy a long, healthy, lovely life! :-)
