I'm using this for Cat Food and it works and self feeds flawlessly but if you were to use a larger grain dog food, not sure how well it would self pour. Easy to clean and easy to refill, couln't ask for anymore. Great purchase for taking off the workload of feedings or going out of town for a few days.
