It seems many experts can't agree on whether cats should eat only dry food or only canned food or a combination thereof. Sure, kibble is better than no food at all, but to me it makes more sense to feed a cat a diet similar to what it would hunt (rabbits, mice, birds, squirrels and so on). These prey are not naturally dehydrated kibble, obviously, so why feed your feline a low moisture diet?

For whatever reason, if you choose to purchase kibble, Nature's Logic is one of the best brands I have discovered (dry or canned food). One reason is their products do not contain "wheat, corn, rice, soy, potato or chemically synthesized vitamins, minerals, or trace nutrients." That was pulled directly from their website. Another reason is not one of the ingredients is sourced from China, and they are tested for GMOs (genetically modified organisms). Read the claims for yourself at natureslogic.com and natureslogic.com/ingredients.

There are many brands that cut costs of production at the expense of your pet's health. One in particular is Purina. Both variants of Purina One Beyond listed on their website contain menadione (synthetic vitamin K3), soybean meal and soy protein isolate (among other ingredients I wouldn't feed myself or my cats). The soybean ingredients are likely processed with hexane (a byproduct of gasoline refining). It is also likely that the soy is genetically engineered, and that rubs me the wrong way, too.

Here is a link to the MSDS on menadione: sciencelab.com/msds.php?msdsId=9924603

In conclusion I would research these topics on your own. I wish I had a long time ago. You will likely find conflicting articles. Use your noggin and decide what you believe.
