Needed a new flake food for my cichlid population and chose this one for the price and the interesting claims of the nutritional technology. I was already alternating a spirulina flake food with New Life Spectrum pellets and was very happy with the color enhancement of my fish. I have been keeping a Malawi Mbuna and a mixed Tanganyikan tank. All the fish are readily accepting of the new spirulina flake and I have not noticed any loss in color or activity with the change. Compared to the previous brand, my perception is that this flake disintegrates more as bites are taken leaving behind small clouds in the water. Its not horrible and the filtration cleans it up within about 10 minutes of feeding, but it is not as clean in the water as the old stuff. For the price though, it seems to be a good staple food so far.
